my story

"Inside of every work, a little piece of the artist's soul remains"

The things we gravitate towards as a child provide us with great insight into that which we were born to do.
I was endlessly drawing, writing, styling dolls, creating my own fashion magazines & I thought Kermit the Frog rocked.
Throughout my working life I deviated from the creative path, but finally I am following my heart & returning home.
Predominantly painting in Acrylic, I pour a great deal of emotion & energy into my work. Each viewer will intrinsically interpret the emotion & feeling evoked in my pieces in a very personal way. My exhibited works are often uniquely accompanied by my own original poetry.

After a ten year hiatus I am excited to share my

Each time I paint there are certain elements that I love bringing to life above all others, like the draping and creasing of fabric, light hitting human hair and a subject's eyes.
My canvas is complete when I have breathed life into the image created.
A true artist has but one wish - that their work may profoundly move another.

"to create works of art that move you, inspire you & make your walls talk"

my process

"I always visualise the completed painting in my mind before i begin"

I have been painting ever since I can remember.
People watching, pouring over fashion magazines or simply noticing the way light casts shadow on an object has been my greatest teacher. Occasionally I paint from a photograph I have taken on my travels, or I paint a scene specifically for a client. But mostly I keep a collection of dozens (on one occasion more than 50) images that will be my guide for the scene I have in mind. Sometimes I sketch an outline on my canvas to guide me, but mostly I paint freehand and intuitively fill the canvas with colours and images as my reference. I will often ask a friend to pose in a certain way or hold their hands in a specific position to allow me to structure the postures needed. Or I will use an item of clothing I have and drape it in a particular fashion to assist in moving the idea from my imagination to the canvas in front of me.
If you visit my instagram page you will find some videos showing the journey from start to finish of my newest works.
